NLANR Announces High Performance Connections Applications Database
released
December 14, 1999
The National Laboratory for Applied Network Research (NLANR) invites high
performance computer users to preview its new High Performance Connections
Applications Database at
http://dast.nlanr.net/Clearinghouse/clearing_main.htm. The database is being developed by the NLANR
Distributed User/Applications Support Team.
The applications database is the initial component of an HPC clearinghouse that
NLANR is developing as an online resource for people who use high performance
networks. This online clearinghouse will provide support services and information
about projects, applications, and related HPC resources.
Initially the database will include basic information about the NSF HPC awards,
such as meritorious applications (projects), participants, institutions,
discipline areas, and specific applications. Later it will grow to include more
detailed information about technical requirements of the applications and results
of application research. Once the NSF HPC information is in place the NLANR team
will work with staff of the Internet2/Abilene community to see that their data
are incorporated into the database. The team is also working with regional and
local support service providers, such as NYSERnet, to explore how they might use
this collection or its format with their communities.
NLANR staff asks interested persons to review project, application, and resource
information and to send them corrections and updates. Projects not included in the
database can be submitted using NLANR's Web data submission form, or by sending
the URL to the NLANR team.
