Content proposals due March 23
CHAMPAIGN, IL "Beyond Boundaries" is the name for SC2001, the annual high-performance networking and computing conference to be held Nov. 10-16 in Denver. And this year, the conference truly will extend beyond the boundaries of the Denver Convention Center through an event called SC Global.
SC Globalthe first truly global technical conference on the gridwill use Access Grid technology to link SC programs at the Denver Convention Center with participants at dozens of Access Grid nodes, or SC Constellation Sites, throughout the world. The result will be a shared multi-national forum where people all over the world can discuss the impact of high-end computing and communications on science and society.
The SC Global team is looking for ideas from individuals and groups on content for the SC Global event. Content can be program-related or can be part of the "SC Global Showcase," and unrelated to any specific program area. All proposals for content must be submitted by March 23 using the form at http://www.mcs.anl.gov/scglobal/content-form.htm.
Program-related content
This content includes panels, workshops, birds-of-a-feather sessions, and invited talks that put to use the SC Global infrastructure. Program-related content will be offered as part of the overall SC2001 content.
- Panels. Panel discussions should cover topics of interest to the HPC community and panelists should reflect a range of opinions. Discussions should be structured to encourage participation from the audience, including participation of remote audiences using the SC Global infrastructure.
- Workshops. Half-day workshops designed for small groups should discuss hot topics in the HPC and networking communities. Proposals and experts to facilitate discussions are being sought.
- Birds-of-a-Feather Sessions (BOFs). These events allow conference participants to convene informally to discuss special interests. Meeting rooms are provided for BOFs. The SC Global team is seeking proposals that use the SC Global infrastructure to create distributed multinational and cross-cultural discussions.
- Exhibitor Forum. These sessions focus on technological advances and new products in industry and typically draw standing room only crowds.
Non-program content (SC Global Showcase)
As part of SC Global's deployment of the Access Grid, a large format Access Grid node is planned for the convention center exhibit floor. This node will feature events at SC Global Constellation Sites and will allow audiences at the convention center to participate in these remote events. Highly interactive and entertaining content that is visually stimulating and exploits the Access Grid infrastructure is especially welcome. Content for SC Global Showcase sessions is open, and could include artistic collaborations or distributed artistic and musical performances.
